Regardless of the number of high quality products on the market I have put together a few hob cleaning tips using some basic tools or materials. Please be advised that following the manufacturer’s instructions is essential in keeping any item in good working order.
In case of burnt on food: Various makes and types of hobs will have a different top coating (white enamel, black, ceramic, etc.) In most cases, though, those are very sensitive to scratching. This is where a basic plastic spatula comes handy. Using the spatula try scrubbing off the burnt on food. Avoid using the sharp edges. Always keep in mind that a hard plastic item may be hard enough to scratch some surfaces.
Gas Hobs: Most gas hobs have various parts that can be dismantled. Pan stands and burners come off fairly easy and thus can be cleaned separately. Burners can be cleaned with a thick solution of bicarbonate soda. Soft sponge and soapy water should do a good job for the rest.
Or… You can always pop into the shop and get a few high quality cleaning products. This may save you a lot of time but take care when using on various surfaces.
Always read the label.
